The above are criticisms we have had over the years from our Customer Surveys about our Chef Trouser range. The chef trouser presents quite the challenge to develop because it has to be lightweight but durable, comfortable but practical and of course look the part. Our Lancashire Trouser has been our most popular since we introduced it. However, we had several comments regarding its fit. At Oliver Harvey we constantly reflect and review all our garments to ensure that our customers receive only the highest quality. But with the Lancashire, we decided to try a slightly different and more investigative approach.
After compiling as much feedback as we could regarding this trouser, we analysed what the issues were and identified that the leg was too baggy and the front rise was too long. A key aspect of this process was to ensure that we did not dramatically alter a highly popular product. Although we had had several criticisms, the majority of our customers were very happy with their chef trouser so it was paramount to make amends which would satisfy the complaints whilst not generating more.
Our in-house Garment Technologist Jennifer describes how we were able to achieve this:
“The current Lancashire trouser was tried on various members of our work force and comments were taken on the general fit and style of the trouser. Based on these fit trials and comments we had received from customers, the leg was slimmed down and the front rise reduced to give an improved fit. Samples of the new fit were again tried on in-house to check the fit was better and also wearer trials were sent out to customers.”
The wearer trials in particular, were a key aspect of our Lancashire Trouser Trial. Through the Customer Surveys we were able to contact customers who had voiced issues with the previous Lancashire and we offered to give them the new fit trouser in return for their opinion on how it was to wear and was it an improvement on the original. We got a fantastic response to this initiative and rather than paraphrase them, we thought it best to give you a couple of direct quotes from our customers:
