The chef hat was once the defining aspect of a chef uniform, however, modern tastes have seen traditional chef hats becoming increasingly redundant.
Instead, the modern chef skull cap is being highly sought after due to its slimmer profile and more comfortable fit. We developed our chef skullcap to ensure that chefs get the highest quality and most practical headwear available.
We’ve achieved this with:
- A high quality PolyCotton material
- Coolmesh crown to allow heat to dissipate and air to circulate
- Firm stitching between the two materials to avoid weak spots and ensure durability and longevity with the design
- An adjustable and hard-wearing velcro fastening
Finding the perfect fit
We also wanted to ensure that a snug fit could be achieved no matter the size of the wearer’s head. While this could have been achieved with multiple sizes, we often find that people don't really know the size of their own head very well. So, to avoid any awkward sizing issues, we set out to create the perfect one size fits all design.
The addition of the Velcro strip was the perfect way to achieve a one size fits all chef skullcap without compromising on the comfort or aesthetics of the hat. While the Velcro strip adds significant work to the manufacturing and cutting processes, we think the effort is well worth it for the quality of the finished product.

Our existing range is worn by busy chefs across the length and breadth of the country, with our classic black chef skull cap and chef skull cap in white proving especially popular.
We will be adding additional colours to our skullcap range soon, allowing you to match your chef headwear with the rest of the kitchen and front-of-house uniform to achieve a cohesive style and branding. Can I purchase items in bulk for my restaurant staff?

Do you offer different sizes for the chef hat skull cap?
To make ordering for a large kitchen brigade as easy as possible, we decidedly designed a one size fits all skullcap with an adjustable velcro strap. That way, you can avoid having to gather the team for awkward head measurements and place an order in the knowledge that Oliver Harvey chef hats will provide a perfect, snug fit for each wearer.
Are the chef caps machine washable?
Yes - the skullcaps in our existing range should be machine washed at 60°C and tumble dried on a low setting, but we offer specific washing and care information on the individual product pages.
